WRApped In Warmth

As winter approaches and it’s frosty grip settles in, NeighbourLink embarks on a meaningful initiative
to create winter gear themed bundles in an effort to support the homeless in our community.

Every year since February 2020, we assemble 100 reusable bags filled with essential items designed to keep
individuals Wrapped In Warmth during the chilly months. These bags are carefully assembled to include
a cozy blanket, a pair of mittens, a set of hand warmers, a snug hat, a comforting scarf, a practical mini flashlight,
an emergency foil blanket and a durable tarp. We are committed to reaching out to those who could benefit
from a little extra comfort and to provide a sense of security and protection against the elements.
We are grateful for the opportunity to extend a helping hand to those in need, offering not just physical warmth,
but ensuring that everyone has access to the essentials they need to navigate the winter season with dignity and warmth. Together we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbours, fostering a spirit of kindness,
compassion and a sense of community support as we navigate the winter season together.

beat the heat

In the scorching heat of summer, the plight of the homeless community becomes even more challenging.

In June 2023 to alleviate some of their struggles, NeighbourLink took on the initiative of creating
100 summer-themed backpacks filled with items to provide relief during the hottest months.
Each backpack contains vital supplies aimed at beating the heat and offering comfort to those in need.
From sunscreen and sunglasses to reusable water bottles and re-hydration drink crystal mix,
every item is selected with the intention of combating the harsh effects of the season.
For added shelter from the beating sun, a tarp and bungie cords are part of the items provided.

Moreover, we understand the importance of not only offering physical reprieve but also uplifting spirits,
hence the inclusion of motivational notes and small tokens of encouragement. Our aim is to make a meaningful
difference in the lives of the homeless in our community by providing them with these summer geared items,
free of charge, to help them navigate through the sweltering days with a little more ease and dignity.
